1. What are Braidlocs?
Braidlocs are small braids that are installed in a grid pattern and are tightened at the root every 4-8 weeks, depending on how quickly your hair grows. They are not twisted with gels or waxes, but are interlocked with a tool to retain a uniformed look.
2. Can they be removed?
Yes. Braidlocs can be removed, however, it is not recommended. Once Braidlocs are installed, it is very costly and 0me consuming to take them down.
3. How long must my hair be to get Braidlocs?
Hair should be at least 1 1⁄2 “ in length to install Braidlocs them down.
4. What are the size options for Braidlocs?
Braidlocs can be installed in four sizes: micro ( 1/8” or less), small (1/4”), medium (1/3”) or large (1/2”). Clients who wish to have locs more than 1⁄2”should consider traditional locs instead of Braidlocs.
5. How much does it cost to install Braidlocs?
Prices range. The length of the hair and the desired size of the Braidlocs are taken into consideration for pricing. However, Braidlocs start at as low as $250 up to $600Prices range. 6. Are there any other fees assessed?
Yes. Additional fees are as follows: A) $25 non-refundable consultation fee for first-time loc clients, only. B) Retightening Services are assessed an additional $25 charge for each additional hour after the first three hours of service, C) $25 late fee for clients more than 15 minutes late for appointment, D) Clients who are ‘no shows’ will not be assessed a fee, but will be blocked from making any future appointment. That is a lost day that could have been book for another client.
7. Why is a consultation required prior to receiving service?
All first-time loc clients must schedule an in-person (preferred) or virtual consultation to assess the nature of the scalp and to determine if locs are recommended. Please a lot 90 minutes for the consultation.
8. How long does it take to install Braidlocs?
Braidlocs installations can take up to two days or more, depending on the length of your hair, the desired size and spacing of the loc and grip pattern. Generally, I allocate 12 hour sessions per day, with one 30 minute dinner break, and two 15 minute stretch breaks, if needed, each day. It is recommended to schedule installation around weekends and personal days off.
9. Why does it take so long to install Braidlocs?
Braidloc installations are very precise. The concept behind the grid pattern is to create a uniformed and neat look while the loc is parted in any direction allowing much versatility.
10. Can I color my Braidlocs after they are installed?
Yes. Braidlocs can be colored soon after installation, however, it is recommended that you wait two weeks before coloring or color your hair two weeks prior to installation. It is recommended that you have your hair colored by a certified cosmetologist who specializes in color application in order to get the best possible result.
11. How often do I need to have my Braidlocs retightened?
It is recommended that retightening sessions should occur routinely every 6 – 8 weeks. However, there are some instances in which retightening can be done every 4 – 6 weeks. Not less than 4 weeks to ensure that the base of the Braidloc does not weaken by retightening to frequently.
12. How often can I wash my hair?
You should wash your hair at least once a week. Braid and banding your hair is recommended to reduce frizzies and to seal the 0p of the Braidloc.
13. How long does it take for the braidloc to become a sealed loc?
There are four stages to the locing process: Baby, Teen, Adult, Mature. The locing process can take anywhere from six months up to two years depending upon the thickness and density of the hair.
14. How do I care for my Braidlocs at nighttime?
It is important to either wrap your hair up in a satin scarf at night or purchase a sa0n pillow case to sleep on. Either will help to keep hair soft, as well as keep the hair from drying out and eliminate the possibility of having lint caught in the locs.
15. Can Braidlocs be installed on relaxed hair?
Yes. Unlike Sisterlocks TM it is not necessary to have 1 1⁄2’ of unaltered new growth to install Braidlocs with relaxed ends. However, it is required to have at least 1 1⁄2’ of unaltered new growth to install tool assisted locs or Braidlocs on virgin hair without relaxed ends. As the hair grows out, the relaxed ends are clipped until all the hair is in a loc’d and non-relaxed form.
16. What forms of payment do you accept for services
Cash is the only acceptable form of payment at this time.
17. What type of hair do you use?
EON and Kadhi hair for most twists, Freetress, Freetress Clean Therapy, Sensationnel, X-Press.
18. Are clients required to purchase the hair in advance for twist styles and distressed locs?
Yes. Clients should have hair in hand or ordered at least two weeks prior to hair appointment,
19. Do you color?
No.
20. Do you offer loc services for children?
No. I do not offer services to children under the age of 18 because of the amount of time it takes for loc installations.
21. Do you do loc extensions?
No, I do not install loc extensions.
22. Are you a licensed cosmetologist?
No, I do not install loc extensions.
